Chronicle Toward Books Les Justes

Piece Regarding Books Les Justes
Not a big fan of plays....but I did like this at some points

A succinct but rich meditation on what it means to be a revolutionary, what makes an act of terror justified or not, and the issues around sacrificing oneself for a societal cause. The play also poses the question what it means to 'love' what one understands to be the greater good, as opposed to loving yourself or the person opposite you. What is somewhat lost in the play format, however, is the opportunity to draw the characters with a bit more depth and dimension.

I saw this play as a kind of trailer for L'Homme révolté... it explores the same themes, but in a much more accessible way. The central paradox is the conflict of intuitions about the ethics of revolution. The rebel is sickened by the injustice of the world, and takes responsibility for creating justice by the use of violence - in this case, the assassination of the Grand Duke. However, this arguably makes him just as bad as the oppressors. Les Justes is, as one would expect, beautifully

My favorite book of the year. Great and intense classic.

I think I just have a hard time with Camus in general.I really enjoy theater and particularly love the theater by Sartres but this one seems to go nowhere and the characters lack depth. Overall I was pretty disappointed :(

A masterpiece. Every line of dialogue is a quote.
