Shabby Chic at Heart (Hometown Series Book 1) by Kirsten Fullmer is a heartwarming romance that is a little bit spicy, inspiring, and cute all at once. Tara as the protagonist is a house renovator, who is quite good at what she does. The level of detail that was written into this character and the actual detail given about home renovation was impressive, in particular when it comes to old homes. Slow readStarted out a bit slow. Good story line and likeable characters. Tara was as little to confusing with her issues. I will go on to the next book.

Kind of a typical romance. Beautiful woman who has no idea she is beautiful even in ripped jeans, tank top and pony tail meets a somewhat cocky city boy who is instantly attracted but they keep misunderstanding each other. It wasn't that the book was so typical that made me not care about it because it is a romance and that's how they roll. I really didn't care for Tara. I understood that she had a difficult childhood and it made it hard for her to trust but I don't know why she was so afraid of
