Description Toward Books Chase the Dark (Steel & Stone #1)

Piper Griffiths wants one thing in life: To become a Consul, a keeper of the peace between humans and daemons. There are three obstacles in her way. The first is Lyre. Incubus. Hotter than hell and with a wicked streak to match. His greatest mission in life is to get Piper into bed and otherwise annoy the crap out of her. The second is Ash. Draconian. Powerful. Dangerous. He knows too much and reveals nothing. Also, disturbingly attractive — and scary. Did she mention scary? The third is the Sahar Stone. Top secret magical weapon of mass destruction. Previously hidden in her Consulate until thieves broke in, went on a murder spree, and disappeared with the weapon. And they left Piper to take the fall for their crimes. Now she’s on the run, her dreams of becoming a Consul shattered and every daemon in the city gunning to kill her. She’s dead on her own, but there’s no one she can trust — no one except two entirely untrustworthy daemons ... See problems one and two.

Actual rating 2.5 starsEntertaining but forgettable. The audiobook narrator here talks with her nose blocked which is really annoying, also, all the characters sound like teenagers, thus giving you a felling like you reading a young adult fantasy book. Loved it

This re-read is exactly what I needed. This urban fantasy is filled with fantastic worldbuilding and a fun cast of characters. I loved getting to learn all about the Underworld and Overworld daemons, haemons, the Sahar stone, and roles of the Consuls. It was all really interesting and created a full world. Ash and Lyre are a dynamic duo, who when paired with Piper's vibrant personality creates a fantastic friendgroup that is engaging and hilarious. There were twists and turns and unexpected

Original Post: Chase the Dark at FLYLeF (www.flylef.com)CHASE THE DARK, by Annette Marie, is a very promising start to the Steel and Stone series a young adult contemporary fantasy. Its a light and fun read. But where it lacks in heftiness, it more than makes up with the intriguing characters and their nearly impossible undertakings.Meet Piperel Griffiths half human, half daemon a haeman. All Piper ever wanted was to become a Consul, a keeper of peace between humans and daemons. Life as the

3.75 stars. HUGE thank you to mith for this recommendation! So fun story. I have this sweater my husband calls my "Weasley sweater." It's this burnt orange (I never wear orange) color, kind of thick and clunky, not really pretty or even flattering. And yet I don't care because I just love it for what it is.That's this book. Technical wise, this book is probably 3 - 3.5 stars. I caught grammar errors, odd word choices, inconsistent writing at times and not always the best pacing. This isn't as
