My reading experience was horrible! I couldn't keep up with his attitude towards Layla and everybody else really. I saw his as a modern day emo kid

Layla and Majnun is a surprisingly easy read and absolutely essential to understanding medieval Arabic and Persian poetry (and much more), as well a very particular language of love with deep roots in the Sufi tradition. Majnun's love and yearning for Layla (and vice versa) leads to their tragic end, yet an end that is arguably praised by Nizami.

Can't relate the craziness for love.

I reached page 19.Love is a delicate, complicated subject across cultures.However here, the whole of society is "ashamed" when it happens - constantly, predictably ashamed, acting as if it were an incurable madness and they had no kindness for the mad. Love is madness, perseverence is madness.More importantly, Quays' father watched him (the eponymous Manjun is named Quays) follow Layla's tribe on foot for what is apparently a long period of time, hoping it will wear off.
